science simple experiments activities workshop for parents

To mark the opening SRTK Community Outreach Program (C.O.P), Science Unit had started the program by conducted a mini workshop for parents. The workshop are regarding on how to do simple science experiments at home with their children. The objectives of the workshop are to 1)arouse interest of pupils in science, 2) to increase the parents participations in their children schooling activities 3) to convey the knowledge to parents on science topics that are related in their children lesson and 4) to involve the parents in Science Home Challenge competition for the SciMaths Day 2011.

The workshop are presented by Cikgu Dianna Md Taip, Cikgu Rossita Md Yaakub, Cikgu Norlinahwaty Razali dan Cikgu Norrafah Hj Jait.

CSP : Pledge4nature (science exploration activities)

Program Science exploration activities- Pledge4Nature + CSP ( Community services Program) dilaratkan lagi dengan membuat lawatan dan aktiviti eksplorasi ( Topic: properties of materials) bagi murid-murid Tahun 4 di Kawasan Yayasan Sultan Haji Hasanal Bolkiah.

Dalam aktiviti eksplorasi ini, murid-murid dikehendaki membuat penelitian, memerhati dan merekod ( observation and record) mengenai penggunaan bahan-bahan yang digunakan untuk membuat bangunan di Kampong Ayer, Jambatan dan juga di tebing Sungai Yayasan. Aktiviti berkumpulan ini juga memerlukan murid-murid berbincang mengenai pemilihan bahan yang digunakan untuk sebuah bangunan dan kenapa ianya digunakan (discussion on properties of materials and why they chose/used certain materials).

Selesai sahaja aktiviti itu, Murid-murid seterusnya dibawa untuk membuat kempen kebersihan disekitar kawasan. Ini adalah untuk memupuk kesedaran kepada murid tentang kebersihan alam sekitar dan juga menjadikan murid-murid sebagai seorang rakyat Brunei yang berbakti kepada Negara, Raja, Bangsa dan Agama. Aktiviti seumpama ini adalah sebahagian daripada program Pledge4nature dan program khidmat Masyarakat (community services program) yang telah dijalankan sejak tahun 2010 lagi.

Melalui respon balas murid-murid, mereka sangat gembira dan suka dengan pembelajaran di luar sekolah kerana ianya memberi pendedahan dan pengalaman kepada mereka. Ada diantara murid-murid yang belum pernah datang ke pusat bandar dan juga melihat sendiri kawasan Kampong Ayer.

year 4 students' presentation on the Sci Nature Exploration @ Taman Warisan Tasek Merimbun

1st November 2010- Monday: Year 4 students make their debut on the presentation on their recent

science nature exploration at Taman Warisan Tasek Merimbun.

The class presentation is one of the activities in the Science Nature Exploration programme which is marked and recorded in the individual students' SBA report book. The other presentations will be conducted by all classes level,supervised by assigned teachers.

The Science Nature Exploration programme also offers various activities for other subject to join in. For examples: Measurement in lenght and distance (Maths), 'MY DIARY' ( English subject), Aktiviti Lawatan ( Pelajaran Agama Islam) Karangan: lawatan ke TWTM (Bahasa Melayu), Give Back to Nature activity ( M.I.B), dan photography (ICT).

Year 5 visit to Turtle Hatchery Project in Serasa Beach

25th October 2010- Monday: Year 5 students were the last group conducting their Science Nature exploration. The group went to the Turtle Hatchery Project in Serasa Beach. The visit was supervised by Teacher Izyan and Teacher Norlinah.
